Candice King is an American actress and singer, best known for her role as Caroline Forbes in the popular supernatural drama series The Vampire Diaries. Born Candice Accola on May 13th, 1987 in Houston, Texas to Carolyn Clark, a former environmental engineer and Kevin Accola, a cardiovascular surgeon.

King began her career at the age of six when she starred in a Barbie commercial and had small parts in film and television throughout her childhood years. In 2006, she made her film debut playing Carrie Schaeffer in How to Eat Fried Worms alongside her TVD co-star Paul Wesley. In 2009, King began playing Caroline Forbes in The Vampire Diaries after having minor guest roles earlier on in the show’s first season. Her character was part of the main cast until the end of Season 8. Throughout her time on the show, King earned three nominations for Teen Choice Awards for “Choice TV Actress Fantasy/Sci-Fi” and also provided the singing voice for some songs that were featured on the show’s soundtrack album.

In 2014, King reprised her role as Caroline Forbes when she appeared as a recurring guest star in The Originals spin-off series before returning as a main character in Legacies starting from 2018. Aside from acting, Candice has ventured into music releasing two EPs as well as two full albums under the name Candice Accola since 2011. Candice was married to actor Joe King from 2014-2022, and together they have two daughters; Florence May King born in 2016 and Joey Marie King born in 2018. Throughout her career she has become known for playing strong female characters who stand up for what is right, often showing great bravery during hard times.
